Folks Who Play To Lose

Good afternoon everyone,

Last night's stream of Overwatch was certainly interesting, as some of the early randoms I've played with had some really questionable decision making processes... and then there were the last two matches of the night where folks were intentionally hiding and just doing enough to not get kicked from the matches. It really makes things frustrating. Everyone knows I don't mind losing if the match itself is good, but to lose a match due to clear sabotage is just wrong on so many levels.

That said, we did have fun overall, and of course big thanks to PandaSweet for being apart of many of the more entertaining moments of the night. I picked up one Play of the Game as D.va, and I feel like I had some equally good plays as Moira and Mei when I was playing as them. I know some folks wonder when will I use other characters, but I've have me favorites when I play Overwatch. I know what I can do with them in almost any situation. Of course, I could come up with a Channel Points redeem for folks to pick the character i play, but that could end up with me using some characters I really don't like the mechanics (Hanzo, Doomfist, Genji)

For the raid we dropped in on ShadowNeverSeen who was playing Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, which was an Indie Puzzle Adventure game! They stream over at twitch.tv/shadowneverseen!

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured Difficult Challenge Combo #2, Difficulty Challenge Combo #1 and Difficulty Challenge Combo #3. We unlocked the Hiro's Champion achievement today, and now my next target are the achievement's associated with Evan... first Evan's Contender which requires 30 hours trained, and then Evan's Champion which requires 50 hours. Currently I have 14 hours trained using him going back to before the EX Achievements were available.

Fitness Boxing 2 Rhythm & Exercises EX Achievements

  • Hiro's Champion: Train with Hiro for over 50 hours

Experimented with CAPCOM Arcade Cabinet last night to see if it could be of a similar achievement journey CAPCOM Arcade Stadium was... and while it does have online play (or had, I didn't try that part of it), CAPCOM Arcade Cabinet feels off in terms of movements I would make when playing something like 1943: Battle of Midway. Still, we might take some time to feature it on a Wednesday night as something to mess around with prior to Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.

Also, it does appear many of the achievements associated with the collection are rather buggy or require circumstances so prescience that I straight up refuse to even attempt going for 100% completion. I figure I'll I'll go after the more logical achievements and then move on from there.

CAPCOM Arcade Cabinet Achievements

  • AAA: Set a new record on the High Score table.
  • Art Lover: Unlocked a picture in the Gallery.

Now I know that the EA Sports servers for NBA Jam On Fire Edition still worked, since it was a backwards compatible game, however the trick to get the updated terms in conditions required another game, SSX. So by messing around with that for a bit I was able to get the NBA Jam online multiplayer to work a bit. Now the question comes down who is still player either game online in 2022? Who knows, but it's nice to know the option is there.

SSX Achievements

  • That Was Easy: Unlock all Game Modes
  • Grindage: Grind your first rail (not achievable in Tutorial)

For tonight's stream we're going to play What Remains of Edith Finch, which from what I understand is an Indie Puzzle game, that should at most take about four hours to finish. We shall see!

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden

A Night Of SmackDown 2: Know Your Role

Good afternoon everyone,

Last night's stream certainly was a throw back to the year 2000 with WWF SmackDown 2: Know Your Role. Now I would've just done exhibition matches, but turns out I didn't have a save file for it on any of my memory cards, so that meant going through the season mode to unlock various characters, like Stone Cold, Shawn Michaels, the Mean Street Posse and others, which meant sitting through skipping matches I was not involved in and seeing the many... many cut scenes and the numerous loading screens.

Game play wise, SmackDown 2 is fine, and I was playing it on its hardest difficulty setting (unknowingly) and I was mostly using Shawn Michaels once we unlocked him. There was of course the awkwardness when Chris Benoit appeared, so that had to be glossed over to some degree. It is amazing looking at the roster from mid-2000 to realize who's dead and who's alive at this point, considering the major string of WWE Alumni deaths that occurred from 2005 to 2015, and to some degree marveling over who is still having matches every now and then.

Now we only got through to September of the Season mode, so this gives me an excuse to feature it again next week, probably on Saturday night to get the remaining characters... and probably count the game towards this years tour list, since we're doing an entire season.

For the raid we dropped in on Kalenal as they were playing Final Fantasy XIV over at twitch.tv/kalenal!

As far as my own Final Fantasy XIV adventures go, I went hunting for some Blue Mage spells, grabbing a few fairly easily before I ran into some over whelming odds.

I forgot to get enough clips from last night's stream for the Facebook page's highlight reel... oops!

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured Straight Combo #2, Sway Back Combo and Hip Shape Focus Combo. During the extra bits I was doing I set a new personal best for Block Combo set on No Mercy Difficulty. Following everything, I'm now at 49/50 for the Hiro's Champion achievement, so I should hit it tomorrow.

Okay, why are people being mad that Russell Westbrook is being called 'Westbrick'... the dude has bricked many shots during his NBA Career started back in 2008 with OKC. And it wasn't Skip Bayless who first started calling him that, calling Westbrook 'Westbrick', this goes back to the 2011 Playoffs against Dallas and shot 36%

My Xbox achievement streak continued early this morning with knocking out three achievements, and let me tell ya finding all the roads in LEGO® Valley was more of a pain in the butt than one would have thought... because some roads in the city center overlap!

Forza Horizon 4 Achievements

  • I Live My Life…: Reach Round 10 in the Horizon Drag Racing Series.
  • Ground Force: Get 3 stars at a Danger Sign in a vehicle from the Trucks Car Type.
  • Microscale Explorer: Discover all the roads in LEGO® Valley.

It's the start of a new week which means a video recap of the things we played over the last seven days, which included Overwatch, Light Fairytale, SoulCalibur, Street Fighter Alpha Anthology, Gears 5, Final Fantasy XIV, Persona 5 Royal and WWF SmackDown 2 Know Your Role!

For tonight's stream, well you know what day it is... it's Sunday which means Overwatch!

So we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

Kamoshida Has Been Spiked

Good afternoon everyone,

Let me stress the fact that I'm really glad I set Persona 5 Royal to be exclusive to Friday nights, because man just letting the story breath and go at its pace takes quite a lot of time. Now we did cover quite a bit ground with last night's stream, don't get me wrong, but I really can't pictured playing Persona 5 on like a Monday or Tuesday.

That said, I found the first real boss fight against Kamoshida to be a hell of a brain test to learn about some of the mechanics of being aware of would be the best choice to steal the treasure, not to mention resulting in some big tension moments. Ann sparring Kamoshida's shadow self to make him atone for his misdeeds was quite the character moment for her. That said... Kamoshida's confession was certainly a great scene, but I'm curious as to know how much of the reaction to it in the game was influenced by the culture in Japan, as it certainly was more subdued than I was anticipating.

Other things figured out was more side activities to do to increase Joker's state and keeping the Phantom Thieves with a solid amount of Yen, while growing the connection we have to some of the characters. I did kind of ending up straying from the guide a bit but things seem to proceed at their own pace anyway.I like the idea of the Mementos area for level grinding and finding items, seems like it would be a great way to balance out day-to-day streams when there is no Palace to deal with

On a side note, there were some pop culture reference I found real cute, such as The X-Folders as an in-game reference to the X-Files, Bubbly Hills 90210 (aka Beverly Hills 90210) and Guy McVer (aka MacGyver. Wonder how many more I'll be able to find

Persona 5 Royal Trophies

  • Tokyo Tourist: Went to a hangout spot with someone.
  • Punch That Clock!: Worked a part-time job.
  • Castle of Lust: Seized: Completed the castle Palace.
  • Phantom Thieves: Assemble!: Established your own squad of thieves.
  • Leblanc Buffer: Cleaned up in Leblanc.
  • One Step at a Time: Completed a Mementos request.

For the raid, we dropped in on SheepFuzz who was playing Jackbox Party Packs with their community over on twitch.tv/sheepfuzz!

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured Waist Shape Focus Combo, Block Combo and Hook Combo #1. With the extra bits I was doing, I set a new personal best for Sway Back Combo on No Mercy Difficulty.

Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Exercise Stats 2/26 to 3/5/2022

  • Punches  Thrown: 11,193
  • Estimated Calorie Burn: 4629.24
  • Hiro's Champion Progress: 48 out of 50 hours trained

Extended my current Xbox Achievement streak by once again focusing on things in Forza Horizon 4... and of the seven achievements I accomplished last night, the biggest pain the ass was 'Record Breaker' which was to nail a speed trap at 258 MPH in a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Keeping in mind that car could get to near 267 MPH, so one would assume that would be easy. But the problem is, there is really only one stretch of road in Forza Horizon 4 that can be done, and that's the M68... and there are 'NPC' cars on the road, which means they got in my way... repeatedly, which resulted in constant rewinding and resting on multiple attempts. It took me 30 minutes to accomplish it when I was going for it. The good new is, as of 4:45 AM Eastern, only 1.2% of Xbox players have accomplished that feat, so yay me!

Forza Horizon 4 Achievements

  • Purple Split!: In Rivals, beat a Rival without receiving a "dirty time" penalty.
  • Hatch Me If You Can: Complete the Festival Drag Strip in a Hot Hatch in under 25 seconds.
  • Reaping the Rewards: Complete a race of 3 or more laps at The Goliath in a Forza Edition Car.
  • First-Time Adventurer: Complete your first Team Adventure.
  • Record Breaker: Get 258mph on a Speed Trap in the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.
  • Never Tell Me the Odds: Win a race in the Peel P50.
  • A Race in the Crowd: Complete 3 Blueprint Events created by other players

On a side note, with those seven achievements, I now have a combined gamer score of over 1000, which is roughly the equal to a full standalone game.

People are still complaining about Overwatch 2 not being released yet, but at the same time, don't realize that the development time for a video game takes quite a while. Afterall, OW2 was only announced in November 2019, and let's keep in mind the Covid-19 Pandemic and all of Blizzard's own nonsense certainly caused delays.

Might try to track down physical copies of the WWE games released on the Xbox One prior to WWE 2K20 that can't be found digitally, easy achievement hunting there even if the online part doesn't work. Not too worried about lost DLC

For tonight's stream I'm not sure what we're going to do, but I'll make up my mind at some point!

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

Raids, Leveling and Fishing

Good morning everyone,

The end of another week is here, woo-hoo! Anyway last night's stream was a lot more fun than even I was anticipating, because we were joined for a bit by Kalenal to help with power leveling Blue Mage and to get an understanding of the Ocean Fishing aspect of Final Fantasy XIV! Kalenal, of course, streams over at twitch.tv/kalenal

A big part of the stream last night did focus on the Pandemonium raids, doing all four in a single night, which worked out quite nicely in terms of getting the things I need to get the best possible gear I intend to go after. The raids themselves were mostly okay, thought I did struggle more in the Fourth Circle than I normally do. Thing that did surprise me was the wait times being a lot longer for the First and Second Circle.

Also hit the mark in Final Fantasy XIV that unlocked the Tantalus Attire for having an active account for 150 days. Now I'm not 100% sure, but I believe Tantalus was the main character of Final Fantasy IX, but having not played it I'm not sure, but the attire for FF14 does look similar in design from what I remember.

Apparently there is apparently another Final Fantasy XIV live letter scheduled for today, so I'll check those notes after the stream to give my thoughts on them with tomorrow's blog post!

Big thank you to FnDanteSavage for popping in with the Twitch Prime subscription last night! He is a gentleman and a scholar!

For the raid, we dropped in on DaemonsW0lf who was playing Hunt: Showdown over at twitch.tv/DaemonsW0lf!

Twitch Clip Links

  1.  Oh wonderful....
  2.  When a fate spawns when you're fishing
  3.  A Little Level Boosting

Did some more Forza Horizon 4 off-stream achievement hunting last night, finally found a small stretch of road to get the Noisy Cartographer achievement, and finally did some co-op races as well... I may be terrible, but hell it got me another achievement! I will admit the achievement popped at 529 roads, but there are 531, so I really wonder where those two little strips of pavement are, but I'm not going to go hunting for them.

Forza Horizon 4 Achievements

  • Test your Might: Complete The Trial.
  • The Noisy Cartographer: Drive down every road in Britain.
  • Jolly Cooperation: Complete 5 Horizon Life Co-op Races.

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout lasted 31 minutes with Beginner Combo #2, Straight Combo #1 and Weaving Combo #2. Since I've been doing little extra sets on top of the daily, I think there is an outside chance I can complete the requirements for Hiro's Champion by Monday or Tuesday... keeping in my mind original guess to complete that was to be around the 12th of March.

Look, I liked Samuel L. Jackson's performance in Pulp Fiction, but there was a snowball's chance in hell of winning Best Supporting Oscar for it back in 1995, because I don't think his performance was better than Paul Scofield's performance in Quiz Show, who I believe should have won the Oscar.

Picked up In Darkness On Fire Book One: Flames of Alexandrite by Kate Flemming off of Amazon and it's a pretty good book. Since it's told from a first person perspective, you really get into the head of the main character Alexander in just how conflicted he is about his wants and desires. It's actually a pretty breezy read considering the subject matter.

Also nabbed a few cheap things on the Xbox side of things, Haunted Halloween '86, #SincuaAttack, What Remains of Edith Finch and SSX. The first three games are for potential easily 100% completion purposes, but when it comes to SSX it's to see if I workaround related to the EA terms and conditions for online play related to NBA Jam: On Fire Edition works.

For tonight's stream we'll be continuing Persona 5 Royal, which is our long-term Friday night game!

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

A Night of Multiplayer In Gears 5

Good morning everyone,

Last night's stream saw me deep diving into the Multiplayer content of Gears 5 that has nothing to do with the campaign, as we played Horde Frenzy, Escape and several other multiplayer modes and had a damn good time doing it. Perhaps the most fun was the second Horde Frenzy which was set to Advance Difficulty and how cheap some of the deaths were.

Now here's the funny thing we manage to knock out several achievements because of it, which shocked me because I certainty am not playing Gears 5's multiplayer mode off stream, so the fact we ranked up to the point of hitting Corporal and Sergeant during the stream says a lot to some degree. Sure we have the boosts from when I started messing with Gears 5 back in December, but c'mon they certainnly can't be helping that much.

We did use the Xavier Woods skin for the entire stream, and I figured out how to do the in-match emotes and phrases for the character I''m using, it involves holding down the right analog stick and pressing a direction button that an emote or phrase is assigned to.

The question becomes will we keep going back to Gears 5 every now and then just for the Multiplayer? Well, yeah, for me it now becomes like Forza Horizon 4, a game where we can go to to mess around with it and make progress. And since I have a good idea of how to make progress to move up the ranks to some degree,

Huge thanks to DaemonsW0lf for the huge raid following their stream of Hunt: Showdown over on twitch.tv/daemonsW0lf!

Also thank you to LvStrikR and DaemonsW0lf for resubscribing, as well as to CuriousTKG for subscribing for the first time, and for the community gift subscriptions! That was awesome!

For the raid we dropped in on LifeWithStan who was playing Elden Ring over at twitch.tv/lifewithstan!

Gears 5 Achievements

  • Perky's Revenge!: Got a kill with 3 Perks active in Horde
  • Corporal Punishment: Reached the rank of Corporal in a Tour of Duty
  • Sergeant at Arms: Reached the rank of Sergeant in Tour of Duty
  • Once More From the Top: Re-upped!
  • Shutout: Won a match of Gridiron and kept your opponents scoreless
  • Take a Look Around: Completed a Versus match on Reactor, Blood Drive & Checkout
  • In Total Control: Won a Control and/or KOTH match on 10 different maps

It appears Capcom is looking to set the ground work of Tournament guidelines for Street Fighter VI to have some more control over how they want their games presented. It makes sense, but a lot of folks are upset about that.

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout lasted 31 minutes with Intermediate Combo #2, Advanced Combo #1 and Weaving Combo #1

Anyone blaming the owners for the lost start of the 2022 Major League Baseball season clearly doesn't realize that the demands of the players makes no sense in either the short term or the long term. Because guess what, only a handful of players will still make 'mega money' in the hundreds of millions because of snake oil salesmen like Scott Boras, who controls the leadership of the players union!

Messed around some with Forza Horizon 4 to try and find the final missing roads I need... but man that is a challenge. Did managed to accomplish a couple of achievements last night that extend my streak through today.

Forza Horizon 4 Achievements

  • Antique Restorer: Find and restore 15 Barn Finds.
  • Time for an Adventure!: Play your first unranked Free-for-All Adventure.

I am laughing my ass off over Kim Kardashian being declared single and how that must really strike a blow to the ego of Kanye West. Hey if that drama is always on my news feed for whatever reason deemed by the algorithms then you better believe I'm all for anything to causes the most over-rated entertainer of all time. And lets be honest, he hasn't had a true hit song in over a decade with Power.

For tonight's stream we're going to play Final Fantasy XIV, and the focus will first be on the Pandemonium raids, so yes we will be doing all four raids. And depending on how long that takes we'll also do some more Blue Mage and Fishing grinding as well!

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

A Night Dedicated To The Street Fighter Alpha Anthology

Good morning everyone,

Last night's stream ended up featuring every single game that was apart of the Street Fighter Alpha Anthology which was released for the PlayStation 2 back in 2006. This meant last night we played Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Street Fighter Zero 3 Upper and Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix!

Now I am no stranger to Alpha. Alpha 2 and Alpha 3, in fact we played all of those games last year using the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, and despite the different feel a PlayStation 2 controller has when playing a fighting game versus a Xbox controller really not much of a difference here. Though I will say we did do the Dynamic battle mode in all three of those games and the only one I was able to complete was Alpha 3's. I will also say this, playing Alpha 2 did saw me face Shin Akuma... it did not go well

Now I've never played Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold before, and yes its the Sega Saturn port of Alpha 2... but goodness me, the music tracts for it sound terrible in comparison to the original tracks. Near as I could 'hear', the Gold mix for Alpha 2 has a lot more tremble and a lot less bass, which makes things sounds way off. Add onto it the cowbell in Sodom's theme is rather irritating, and the butchered mess that is Sakura's theme needs to be lost to time.

The version Zero 3 Upper is the version of Alpha 3 that was for the the PlayStation 1, DreamCast and Sega Saturn, which means it has the expanded console roster, which I believe gave it the largest in game selection of characters for any Capcom fighting game up to that point only to be surpassed by Marvel vs Capcom 2. I could be wrong about that. Anyway, not much of a difference between Zero 3 Upper and Alpha 3 near as I can tell... but we did beat M.Bison as Sakura with it, making it twice I beat a version of Alpha 3's final boss with her.

Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix, aka Pocket Fighter, was a real joy to play. I have seen Maximilian_Dood (twitch.tv/Maximilian_Dood) play it, so I kind of had a good idea of the mechanics of getting the gems to power up the special moves... but even with seeing gameplay of it before, a lot of the stuff in the background caught my attention... such as Dimitri's sliding across a floor, DeeJay rocking out behind the bar, and M.Bison apparently taking Cammy shopping

All in all I had a blast with all these games last night and I was glad I grabbed a copy of  Street Fighter Alpha Anthology when I did in 2020, because it made for an awesome stream.

Now since Alpha 2 Gold, Zero 3 Upper and Super Gem Fighter were all new things (to me), I am going to count the arcade runs of those three games on this year's tour.

For the raid we dropped in on Oldish22 who was playing Elden Ring over at twitch.tv/oldish22!

Twitch Clip Links

  1. Caught Her!
  2. First time facing Shin Akuma... I was not prepared
  3. The Trade Off In Our Favor! (Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold)
  4. Defeating Bison with Sakura... AGAIN!!!!! (Street Fighter Zero 3 Upper)
  5. Mighy Combo Finish!

I have decided to remove BitBoss from the stream, as the way it keeps acting up makes it more frustrating than it should be.

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout lasted 31 minutes with Uppercut Combo #1, Body Straight Combo and Triple Combo #1 for an estimated calorie burn of 414 kcal.

Went back into Light Fairytail Episode 1 to clear out the remaining achievements, and the stealth minigame was certainly a pain in the ass, had to do it three times because I didn't realize what the score was needed to get the 'Ex-Number One' achievement on the first run (it's 105, I stopped at 95), on the second attempt I got caught at 100... so that left a third attempt. Still I take some pride in being the 470th person over on TrueAchievements to complete the game, so that's a positive!

Light Fairytale Episode 1 Achievements

  • 250+ HP damage: Did a 250+ single HP damage to an enemy.
  • High scorers club: Got a high score of 75+ in the stealth minigame.
  • Number one: Got the stealth contest's ultimate prize.
  • Ex-number one: Got an orb from the former number one.
  • All cleared!: Cleared all the achievements. Congratulations!

Iceman will not be joining us this evening, so the start of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will be delayed, man has not had a day off in a few weeks!

So for tonight's stream we'll mess around with what ever comes to mind!

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

Light Fairytale Episode 1 Is A Great Start

Good morning everyone,

Light Fairytale Episode 1 was featured last night and it certainly was a charming little game that is clearly inspired by Final Fantasy VII... and unlike Final Fantasy VII, Light Fairytale's clear opening act isn't bogged down with a half dozen plot elements. We get introduced to Haru and Kuroko, we get a clear understanding that they live towards the bottom of an underground complex... and Haru has a dream about 'the sky', something he has never seen.

The battle mechanics are very straight forward, as it is a traditional turn-base style and it was made really clear to me that there would be a limit on healing items. Good news is our heroes have 'Fury' moves, or what is basically the equivalent of Limit Breaks, Haru's is a group heal while Kuroko's is a 5 hit combo on one enemy. The music and artwork are actually quite good, as everything seems to gel quite nicely for a nice casual experience.

Perhaps the best part of Light Fairytale Episode 1 is that we can see the story from both Haru and Kuroko's perspectives, which really helps with the game's cliffhanger ending, that clearly makes me eager to make arrangements to play Episode 2. But before I do that, I would want to take care of the remaining achievements in Episode 1. On a blind play-thru I was able to get 19 of the 29 achievements, but the remaining 10 were not very obvious or straight forward.

Of course that does mean I did start a third play-thru following the stream to go after many of the achievements I missed, picking up 5 more. The remaining ones I need are focused a round doing 250+ attack and dealing with the stealth mini-game.

Now we did two play-thrus of Light Fairtyale last night, so I do count the game as being finished, and so we messed around some with SoulCalibur on stream to get some footage of that. Did an Arcade run as Ivy, got to 16 with Taki in Extreme Survival and 31 with Maxi in normal Survival. A pretty solid exhibition of a good game.

For the raid we dropped in on SeverOmega who was playing Rock Band 4 over at twitch.tv/severomega!

Light Fairytale Episode 1 Achievements

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout lasted 31 minutes with Double Combo #2, Advanced Combo #2 and Left-Right Step Combo for an estimated calorie burn of 551 kcal.

Did a quick raid, Deltascape 3.0 last night in Final Fantasy XIV, I've only done it once because, but it's mechancis are so straight forward. Someday I may even try the savage version but yesterday was not that day!

My current XBox achievement streak is now at 19 days, I'm thinking we can get it 21 days with getting any achievements on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

For tonight's stream, at the time I'm writing this I'm not 100% sure of what we're going to do, but you know I'll be up to something!

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!
