The Quarry and other notes

Tonight we wrapped up The Quarry, keeping most people alive... or at the very least the most likeable characters alive, as well as finding 80% of the clues, which pretty much got us the best possible ending on a time play through without trying to do various objectives (As indicated by the epilogue). We did pass up on the Laura reunited with Max achievement, because that would have been too sappy. Will we play this again? Oh yeah, it's easily a three night game, I'll just have to remember to do things from the chapter select menus and not start a new game out right.

Strongly considering starting up the Mass Effect Biotic run on Saturday, but we may do something else if I feel there's another game we can knock out in short order. Alan Wake may be that game, we'll see.

And speaking of that, Alan Wake Remastered will be featured on Friday night's stream.

For the raid we went over to rumhamshmah who was playing South Park The Fractured But Whole

The Quarry Achievements

  • Forewarned is Forearmed: Got a Tarot reading
  • Chapter 8: Completed Chapter 8
  • You're Breathtaking!: Passed 5 Don't Breath events
  • Phlebotomy: Accepted the bite of a werewolf
  • Above the Law: Travis and Laura agreed to work together
  • Chapter 9: Completed Chapter 9
  • The White Wolf: Killed Silas
  • Chapter 10: Completed Chapter 10
  • Epilogue: Witnessed the Epilogue

Work was really good tonight, despite some slight weirdness

Currently in the middle of writing a Resident Evil story to knock out a commission request, will work on that first thing in the morning (depending on how long it takes me to record The Casual Review for The Quarry)

We should have new emotes for the Twtch channel by Sunday. I saw how the rough draft looks, and they look great!

 Good night!

Journey to the Savage Planet and other notes

Tonight, Iceman and I  spent the evening finding many of the items and completing the requirements to get all upgrades as we close in on 100% completing all in game objectives for Journey to the Savage Planet. We have a few plants and animals to find, along with the remaining alien tablets and explorer logs. We should be able to pull that off next Wendesday in pretty short order.

Of course the stream opened with my putting on the wrong headset, which was the one I use for work, as opposed to earbud I use for voice chat. Plus I had the wrong shirt on as well, lol.

Our next stream will feature The Quarry as we'll have a good shot of finishing that, since we don't have to worry about anything involving Emma or Jacob

For the raid we dropped in on ZoneSama for some Christmas related cartoons, including The Real Ghostbusters

Journey to the Savage Planet: Employee of the Month Edition Achievements

  • Stronger, Faster, Probably Poisonous: Recklessly and irresponsibly eat every Orange Goo on AR-Y 26.
  • Scott Norwood in the Hizzy...: Kick 25 Pufferbirds and 25 Maroons. It's ok. I don't know who Scott Norwood is either.
  • Shocking: Stun 5 creatures simultaneously with Shock Fruit. Stone cold.
  • The $600 Man:  3D-print all the 3D-printables. After that, go ahead and 3D-print yourself a gold star!

Work was a struggle, as I didn't get a complete until the end of the shift.

Currently in the middle of writing a WWE related commission which I'll be working on after I post this blog. I figure it's about 60% complete at this point.

Found someone who could do animated emotes over on Fiver, hopefully I'll have those by the end of the week, and a new opening song before my birthday.

Good night folks!

The Quarry and other notes

Tonight's stream of the Quarry ran longer than I thought, but we did knock out chapters three through seven, and lost Emma and Jacob in the process due to... bad choices being made. Chapter 7 with Laura certainly was a long chapter, an I did remember various things from my PS4 playthrough such as cutting off Dylan's hand when he gets bit. The plan is to continue The Quarry on Thursday's night stream, and potentially we could finish it then if I choose to extend the stream.

Wednesday's night stream is planned to feature Journey to the Savage Planet with Iceman, if he's available. If he's not, then we'll continue The Quarry

For the raid we went over to who was playing Baldur's Gate 3 and Paladins

The Quarry Achievements
  • Chapter 3: Completed Chapter 3
  • Chapter 4: Completed Chapter 4
  • Reactionist: Activated 15 Interrupts
  • Just a Flesh Wound: Saved a friend from infection
  • Chapter 5: Completed Chapter 5
  • Chapter 6: Completed Chapter 6
  • Bizzare Yet Bonefide: Listened to the podcast
  • Chapter 7: Completed Chapter 7
Work was solid, pretty even if not to spectacular.

Didn't finish the Star Wars commission story I had slated for today, so I'll be working on that before I go to bed.

Had to swap controllers for the Xbox Series console due to stick drift issues, which meant I had to get two back ups.

Good night!

The Quarry and other notes

Tonight's stream featured The Quarry, this time playing the Xbox Series version, and I after two chapters, I still haven't found any of the tarot cards, but at the same time I'm glad I didn't find them because now I have to try and make the right choices without any hints. I also forgot how much of a tool Jacob was as a character, but I did find Emma's bracelet which I didn't do on my PS4 playthrough last year.

We'll continue The Quarry picking up with the start of Chapter 3 tomorrow night

For the raid we went over to MissCammi316 who was playing Fears to Fathom: Ironbark Lookout

The Quarry Achievements

  • What's This?: Collected first clue
  • Prologue: Completed the Prologue
  • The Truth is Out There: Collected first piece of evidence
  • Chapter 1: Completed Chapter 1
  • It's All Coming Together: Found a matching clue
  • Chapter 2: Completed Chapter 2

Work was alright, got two interviews done.

Knocked out two story commissions one based on AEW and the other Spider-Man related, next one is tied in with Star Wars.

After four years I am going to have some new music intro music made for my streams, thankfully the person who did the majority of the music back in 2020 is still around.

And on that note good night!

Asura's Wrath And Other Notes

Tonight we wrapped up Asura's Wrath, and I do have to question as to why was episodes 19 to 22 which is the actual ending of the game's story not included when the game was originally release. Was Capcom that shady? And given how they monetized the hell out of Street Fighter IV, the answer is yes. Still I had a lot fun playing it, as and we ended up with a good chunk of achievements. We also featured the lost episodes that were the crossover with Street Fighter IV, and those were incredibly silly. I think I liked the Ryu vs Asura encoutner more than the Akuma one, but both were great.

What game is going to replace Asura's Wrath in the line up this week? Well it's going to be The Quarry, which we'll put on the Xbox Series console since we already played it once on the PlayStation 4 side. Of course unlike last year, I'm not going to try and keep everyone alive

Our next stream will feature Overwatch 2

For the raid we went over to Kalenal who was playing Final Fantasy XIV

Asura's Wrath Achievements

  • It Takes Two: Defeat Deus with Yasha in Episode 17.
  • Karma: Complete Part III: Karma.
  • Ka-ching!: Accumulate a total of 120000 Battle points.
  • The Truth Hurts: Uncover the truth.
  • Be the Fist: Achieve an overall synchronic rate average of 80% on any difficulty.
  • CG Collector: Get all the CG art.
  • Art Appreciator: Get all the illustrations.
  • Movie Buff: Get all the movies and interludes.
  • Can't Touch That: Perform 100 counterattacks.
  • Lightning Reflexes: Achieve 150 EXCELLENT synchronic impact rankings.
  • Daddy's Angry: Defy the supreme being in Episode 19.
  • A Friend in Need: Protect your brother-in-law in Episode 20.
  • How Do Ya Like Me Now?: Receive a parting gift in Episode 21.
  • Blaze of Glory: Put an end to your wrath once and for all.
  • Nirvana: Complete Part IV: Nirvana.

Finished a Spider-Man commission in the early afternoon and the next story on the docket is AEW related, too bad I know nothing about Julia Hart.

Got dinner from a new place called Wingstop, their BBQ Chicken Sandwich is quite good.

ANd on that note good night

We finished The Quarry... Everyone Lived

Good afternoon everyone,

Last night's stream of The Quarry we had one instance of an apparent drop in Upload speed, which split the stream in two, but I'll take only one minor incident over the nonsense that happened on Thursday night.

Now we managed to finish The Quarry with everyone surviving, which was an impressive feat considering how easily some things can lead to characters being killed off. One of the key things I was trying to do was follow ups on earlier actions, such as using the Stuffed toy found in the cabins earlier in the game to make sure Kaitlyn survived in the 10th chapter.

I did like how the Fortune Teller acted as both as a hidden antagonist and guide, it was a great misdirection similar to the menu android seen in Detroit Become Human... which funny enough is another game with branching paths I should do a second play through of.

Speaking of replays, since I didn't find all the evidence (missing one), it meant I didn't get the 'most positive ending', but there are incentives to replay The Quarry because of different endings and achievements. So for sure we'll have this on the agenda for the fall of 2023!

Now which game will replace The Quarry on Friday nights? Well I'm not 100% sure yet, I'm considering a few things, I know Until Dawn is something I'm saving for October. So Maybe Alan Wake on the PS4? We'll see what I figure out.

The Quarry (PS4) Trophies

  • Chapter 5: Completed Chapter 5
  • Chapter 6: Completed Chapter 6
  • Bizarre Yet Bonafide: Listened to the podcast
  • Chapter 7: Completed Chapter 7
  • Chapter 8: Completed Chapter 8
  • Phlebotomy: Accepted the bite of a werewolf
  • Above the Law: Travis and Laura agreed to work together
  • Chapter 9: Completed Chapter 9
  • The White Wolf: Killed Silas
  • Chapter 10: Completed Chapter 10
  • Rough Night: Keep everyone alive
  • Epilogue: Witness the Epilogue
  • Creature Feature: Started a movie mode playthrough

Comcast will be out in my neighborhood to replace the service drop line, but of course after Thursday's incident I 100% bet there are grater issues with their infrastructure that serves my area.

The worst Upload and Download speeds I've seen from Comcast since March of 2021...

Good morning everyone,

Well last night's stream ended abruptly because Xfinity had a 90% drop in service provided. I pay for a download speed of 300 Mbps and an upload of 10 Mbps.... and when the stream got completely disrupted starting about 8:30 PM Eastern, those speeds 189 Mbps and .0 45 Mbps. Clearly unacceptable for streaming, and particularly for when I'm working in the afternoons! So I'm rather worried about work for today.

Now I did call into Xfinity, and apparently so many people were having issues accessing Peacock and Amazon Prime that they actually put an automatic message that said they were aware of customer's inability to watch Thursday Night Football. Didn't take me long to use that as an example as to why to why my service sucked. And you know what's funny I've been complaining about these issues for MONTHS!

Guess all it takes for Xfinity to get the ball moving on something is for it to be Football Season.

Still, the service drop line is being replaced on Saturday afternoon, so hopefully that will resolve my issues. We'll see if that works. On the other hand,  because of the issues last night, there was a maintenance outage in my area this morning.

Anyway, what we managed to do during the stream was continuing my quest to do all the side mission in Final Fantasy XIV, mostly in areas associated with Heavansward. I was on a cool set of quests involving a young dragon before things started going wonky.

Twitch Clips

No raid last night, but Kalenal was also playing Final Fantasy XIV last night as part of their new schedule of streaming on Thursdays. They stream over on twitch.tv/kalenal

Because of the internet issues last night, I did end up dedicating the later half of my evening to writing the commission request I received for another short story based on Spider-Man for the PS4. Once that was done and sent to the client, I got another commission request to write something based on The Last of Us franchise. I already have an idea of a set up based on transcripts I've seen of The Last of Us Part 2 cut scenes.

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured Defensive Combo #2, Triple Combo #2 and Front-Back Step Combo for 28 minutes.

Saw that Capcom has gotten the Esports nonsense out of their system and is focused on making Street Fighter VI fun. Of course all I want to know is when is Sakura going to be added to the roster! Because so far just about all of the original World Warriors are in the launch roster.

I've decided that I'll finally start playing Tekken 7 on Mondays and Tuesdays, go through the story mode and see what achievements we can unlock.Think of this as kind of like filler because on October 4th... Overwatch 2 launches and I don't want to start a big game between now and then.

Of course that is depending on if Comcast Xfinit will actually fix their network infrastructure!

For tonight's stream... well the plan is to play The Quarry and finish that. Here's hoping we'll be able to pull that off!

So on that note, we hope to see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

A Troublesome Start To The Quarry Thanks To Xfinity

 Good afternoon everyone,

Last night's stream of The Quarry got off to a real bad start, as we ended up having two stream interruptions that reset the broadcast thanks to Xfinity. There was an upstream power level at 55.8... and funny enough, these issues occurred between 7 PM and 7:30 PM... exactly as Thursday night. Of course there were 2 times during the afternoon that saw the internet fully going down.

As far the Quarry goes, we had a rough moment after the Prologue where we were stuck on a loading screen for quite a while. Apparently that is an issue that goes back to the original release of the game regardless of which console people were using. That said, unlike Until Dawn, the majority of the cast is actually likeable... outside of Jacob.who comes across as super unlikable. There is also the issue with the faces of the characters where the motion capture worked too well because a lot of the expressions the characters makes just look creepy.

Now we did cover all the way through to the end of Chapter 5, and so far I've kept everyone alive once things went crazy.. I will admit I admit I adjust the controls to be a little fairer to me because I remember some of the gimmicks from Until Dawn just didn't make sense on how they were executed. On the other hand, I do find the writing and overall dynamic of characters of Emma, Kaitlyn, Dylan and Ryan to be rather solid, with Abigail and Nick being 2nd tier.

Also... have to comment on the aspect ratio... apparently it's for a 21:9 monitor and TVs... and there is no way to change that... which makes screen shots and stuff rather awkward. Why did the developers do that makes no sense. And if the screenshots look dark as hell... well the game is also very dark based on default settings.

Finished the commission request for a story based around the PlayStation 4 Spider-Man game. Basically had to rework an early scene to make it work because I have not (yet) played that game. It's on the list of things to do. Also may be getting another commission request to do something based around WWE 2K20. Haven't confirmed that yet. But in the mean time, another commission request came for a standard WWE story

So H.P. Was In FFXIV...

Good morning everyone,

Last night's stream of Final Fantasy XIV saw the first 30 minutes end up being cut due to internet issues, more on that down below... but it was inconsequential, as i was focused on Side Quest in and around Foundation... and ended up finding the Scholasticate quest line, which is basically Final Fantasy XIV's way of using characters from Harry Potter without dealing with any licensing issues.

The Scholasticate quest line is actually a spin off of the first Hildebrand story featuring Briardien who was basically Hildy's foil, plus the quest line s used to add a lot of lore to Ishgardian society and the role of the church. But let's be honest, even as someone who is not big on Harry Potter I was able to pick up on who was who based on tropes and appearances.  I did find the over all story to be interesting, but there were some plodding moments. Of course with it being story driven with no action, it did make for a dull experience for those watching.

So to close things out we ended up doing one raid, the Eight Circle one... and I died twice... once by not realizing what was happening and the other because i panicked and ran the wrong way.

Also finally reached the point where I have the Leonheart attire to use as a glam set... need to figure out how to hide the choker from my gear though.

Twitch Clips

Big thanks to Kalenal who was doing a special Prog-Raid stream of Final Fantasy XIV over at twitch.tv/kalenal

For the raid we dropped in on Oldish22 who was also playing Final Fantasy XIV over at twitch.tv/oldish22!

I did experience the internet going down during work last night, and of course a lot of folks saw my stream last night struggle to stay connected from 7 PM to 730 PM. I did get a call from a senior tech who is now trying to spin it back to 'it's my ethernet network card' or one of the two Xbox consoles causing the problems. Now we didn't have any issues of note since Sunday and I wrote down every single time there was a major lack / service disruption. Now the only other thing he can think of is to replace the drop line that goes from the tap on the telephone pole to the splitter that separate internet and cable.

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured Body Hook Combo, Double Combo #2 and Weaving Combo #1 for 31 minutes.

Good thing I logged into my PS4 last night to do the system update. Rally should get into the habit of checking that after Thursday night streams. And only reason I did was to install the game which we're playing tonight

For tonight's stream, we're going to start up The Quarry on the PlayStation 4. From what I understand a single play through of the story takes about 10 hours, so I'm looking for the stream to be about 4.5 to 5 hours long.

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden

One last night of Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r]

Good afternoon everyone,

Last night's stream of Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r] was totally focused on arcade runs, as we went through the nine remaining characters, and yes it took fours to do, because I still had it set at best 2 out of 4 rounds and on normal difficulty. The biggest issue that ends up happening is how block heavy the A.I. gets as you go through the arcade ladder... then there is the fact if one lets the story segments play out at the spoken word pace, it would take even longer. Still, we saw a few things that stood out, got a few supers to pop, but I'm confident in saying Wagner has the best looking super in the game.

In terms of what's left to do in Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r] based on achievements, well there are stuff that is possible to do... but it requires basically endless running through like Score Attack and Time Trials to earn the in-game currency to unlock all the Icons, Titles and Main images... and I'm not going to put the time into that, Now I did try to see if we could do any online matches... and well, I doubt anyone is playing it in 2022, because I don't think it had much of an online following to begin with.

So what will replace Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r] on Friday nights as a PS4 title, well I think we'll be taking a look at The Quarry starting next Friday, and I figure we'll get two streams out of it.

 Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r] Trophies

  • You Princes of Maiming, You Kings of No End: Fought 10 battles using male characters. (Not unlockable in Training Mode, Tutorial Mode, or Mission Mode.)
  • Dream in All Colors: Unlocked all 30 colors for any character.

So I was expecting a delivery via UPS yesterday, and it never arrived, turned out the driver lied about attempting the delivery and I called them out on it straight away. I ended up getting a call from a Supervisor at UPS saying the driver said 'they couldn't find my house'... and I pointed out 'they have GPS', and my home is right on the corner. So now I'm expecting it today.

Internet did go down a bit before 5 PM EST, and we had some slight issues during the stream at 654 PM EST and 658 PM

Played some Fallout 76 and wrapped up the Recruitment Blues quest... and if I was doing that on stream I probably would have lost my mind with how well it replicates the DMV experience.

Fallout 76 Achievements

Tested the back up PlayStation 2, and other than having to stand it up for it to read a disc, it works great. Also the different HDMI converted with component cables certainly made Marvel vs Capcom 2 look a lot better than I've seen it previously.

Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium Achievements

  • Welcome to the Stadium: Play a game.
  • First Failure: Get a Game Over screen.
  • Coin Consumer: Insert nine or more coins in one play session.
  • If I Could Turn Back Time...: Use the Rewind feature.

  • Amazing Job!: In one play session, gain 50,000 CASPO while playing Score Challenge or Timed Challenge mode.
  • First Taste of Victory: Clear a game.

A New Week Starts

Good afternoon everyone,

Last night's stream of Overwatch saw the usual Sunday night shenanigans and thankfully without any issues from Xfinity. Big shout out and thanks to Tokidoki and PandaSweet for being apart of the fun, we ended up going 5-5 in out final ten matches, but two of those wins were rather epic in how hard fought they were. In fact one match saw all three of us get post-match cards based on our individual performances.

In terms of how I did solo, I picked up two plays of the game as Moira this week which is always nice. Other characters used were D.va, Orissa, Reinhardt, Brigitte and Anna. I didn't really get an opportunity to do any DPS roles on this week's stream. Ah well.

Twitch Clips

For the raid we dropped in on Flint_Locke who was playing Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: Chapter 8 - Matsuribayashi over at twitch.tv/flint_locke!

Did mess around some with Overwatch 2 last night, mostly to try and figure out some timing with Moira's new kit, and I think I figured out some things... but it does appear her new 'damage orb' can be blocked by enemy shields. Also in a 1v1 against Brigitte, Moira no longer has an advantage as far as I can tell.

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured Uppercut Combo #1, Hook Combo #1 and Waist Shape Focus Combo for 31 minutes

Finished writing the latest commission request featuring WWE's Xia Li yesterday afternoon, and it turned out fairly alright I think. Though some complained I did not include Gifs or Pictures to add flavor to it, to which I say there are far too many writers who basically use Gifs and Pictures as ways not to write out various details.

So I'm thinking a head ot Saturday's stream, and I do have NFL Game Day '98 in my collection... maybe we'll check that out?

Had issues with Amazon yesterday in that the delivery person lied on exactly where the placed my package. And trying to lodge a complaint certainly was not possible. Still, we now have The Quarry and Life Is Strange Volume #6 which collects the final issues of the series published by Titan Comics. The plan for the Quarry is for it to be apart of the Spooky Stuff in October

Staying on Life is Strange though, the final issues kind of save the series which certainly went out of its way to try and make the trio of Max-Rachel-Chloe work, but it was quite clear early on that it was not going to be something that really worked, so the final issues being about getting back to normal really ends the series on a high note, in my opinion.

For tonight's stream the plan is to wrap up the final chapters of Persona 4 Arena's Story Mode and do arcade runs with various characters. With luck we'll be able to get several instant death moves performed for various characters as well.

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

A Fun Night Of Final Fantasy XIV

Good morning everyone,

Last night's stream of Final Fantasy XIV featured a lot of silly things happening, first being the second of the new Hildibrand quests sees his soul basically restored without much hassle, and now I'm really curious as to what his time in the world of the First would have been like. Also the set up of a plot involving aliens was really cool, since there are near endless possibilities for various antics with the Manderville stuff.

Got my Dragoon Lancer to level 40, so next week we'll open with the next job quest. We also did nearly all the big daily roulette with PandaSweet joining for a lot of the fun, as we covered some ones that I don't think I've done on stream, including the standard Omega boss fight

Of some some of the more interesting stuff happened early in the stream with some chatting in regard to  an old 'visor' I got from a Star Trek exhibit back in the 90s, that prompted me to go find a photo from that period to get an idea of what year that was (1994 at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA for those curious)

There was also proof of the running gag of my 'gaming to do list' at least as far as the Nintendo Switch was concerned, and getting an idea how old a figure of the Tasmanian Devil I have is (32 years old). and yeah, I have some things that date back a long ways in my collection folks.

Big thanks to the chat for kicking 300 bits during last night's stream, I great appreciate the continued support!

Twitch Clips

For the raid we dropped in on Oldish22 who was also playing Final Fantasy XIV over at twitch.tv/oldish22!

YrGamerBunni recommend that I play Cultist Simulator on an upcoming stream, which we'll do on Tuesday the 19th! They even made an awesome hype banner for it!

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured Hook Combo #2, Beginner Combo #1 and Left-right Step Combo for 28 minutes.

Work really dragged yesterday, as it the assignment we are on just has too many variables that makes things impossible to accomplish. At the very least the production rate has changed

Messed around with Smite last night, mostly to grind out matches to unlock some of the Nickelodeon event awards. Even picked up an achievement with Lancelot, which gives me a total of 146 out of 306 current achievements that Smite has.

SMITE Achievements

  • Jousting Champion: Unlock the Smite Award "Jousting Champion"

Going to add the Quarry for the PlayStation 4, and also the final comic in the Life is Strange expanded saga based around Max and Chloe.

For tonight's stream, we shall continue Persona 5 Strikers, and I have to remember to do a side quest with Makoto, because all the hang out stuff leads to an achievement in game.
