Ugly Americans: Apocalypsegeddon Is A Fun Little Game

Good morning everyone,

Last night's stream was fully of surprises... with the first one being that Ugly Americans: Apocalypsegeddon is a fun little game. Now I remember watching series on Comedy Central, and I thought it was a good show, the surreal premise certainly was interesting... but I'll admit I never really went out of my way to watch it when it was airing, and that is probably true for a lot of folks.

Anyway, the game, Ugly Americans: Apocalypsegeddon is a twin stick shooter, meaning you use the left analog stick to move and the left analog stick to fire your weapon. RB is to pick up items to switch weapons and RT is the screen clearing move. Y (on an Xbox controller) is to revive teammates if you happen to be playing online or locally with someone. Gameplay wise, it's basically just clear the screen of enemies to move forward, you gain XP which means upgrades, so you can focus on one character (in my case Callie) to max out their stats.

That particular aspect of the game came in really handy as I was looking to clear the first boss of the game, and granted i came close a couple of times, but once I realize I can use the harder DLC levels as a way to give myself an XP boost, getting Callie's damage output maxed out and super move recovery up a few levels meant I had a much easier time. On a side note, depending on the character, they may get buffs or debuffs depending on the weapon they are using, in Callie's case, using the propane tanks and rockets plays to her strength.

I think I'm going to try and actually finish this game, as my expectations were pretty low and I want to see if I can accomplish that. And it appears the online multiplayer still works so maybe we'll get some help along the way! Who knows!

We also played Gears of War Ultimate Edition, and we were of course joined by Iceman, and we took our time making sure I found all of the COG tags in the first two acts. I was the only one killed because of a in-game story event involving an NPC fucking with the lights... it was hilarious. But seriously, I see why they want to do a remaster of the other Gears of Wars games from the 360 era, because Gears of War Ultimate Edition looks pretty damn good... and I noticed a few things that were clearly used in Gears of War 4, such as the various textures and sky patterns.

Ugly Americans: Apocalypsegeddon Achievements
  • My New Favorite Number: Defeat 50 enemies in a row without getting hit.
  • Keep These Bad Boys Comin’: Rack up a 20 score multiplier.
  • Dirty Leg Draggers...: Kill 300 Zombies.

We did not do a raid last night, instead we hosted Maximilian_DOOD who was playing Elden Ring over at twitch.tv/Maximilian_DOOD.

For today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout, the exercises were Beginner Combo #1, Front-Back Step Combo and Hook Combo #2.  Of course you can tell I did more than just the daily exercises.

Messed around some with the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection, just to get a feel for some of the games while also using its save state exploit of knocking out achievements. I think once all of the achievements are done, we'll dedicate part of a stream to checking things out from this collection. Of course we would have to label each segment for each game, since the collection's own title isn't found on Twitch.

SNK 40th Anniversary Collection Achievements

  1. Vertically Challenged: Beat the Arcade version of Alpha Mission.
  2. A Wise Choice: Beat the Arcade version of Athena

I did actually take a look at the PlayStation State of Play to see what may peek my interested. Exoprimal looks like a fun chaotic co-op shooter that is clearly set in the same universe as the Dino Crisis games... best part is that its not a PlayStation exclusive. Square-Enix's Forspoken looks like it's their answer to the Horizon games just based on the game play footage. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle R looks cool, even thought my only experience with that franchise is through Jump Force

But what really got my attention is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cowabunga Collection that looks like is going to included every TMNT game from the 80s and early 90s, including the arcade games. I'm really hoping that its not a PlayStation exclusive, because I would love to play that just for the two arcade games alone, and maybe the first NES games. Tournament Fighters could also be cool, since I never played either the SNES or Genesis versions.

Successfully tracked down a copy of WWE 2K16, so again something to use to get a few easy achievements.

For tonight's stream we'll be playing Final Fantasy XIV, doing some raids and then focusing on Fishing and Blue Mage leveling!

So we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

It's Not Meant To Be Binged

Good morning everyone,

Last night I had the stupid idea of just pushing through and grinding out the second half of the season mode of SmackDown 2: Know Your Role... and from where we left off at on Saturday, it took six hours to do, sure I took three breaks, but damn, the horrible 'simulation' of matches screens really bogged things down. The good news is all the important characters are unlocked, with the exception of Michael Cole, who no one cares about. Still I'm never doing the Season mode of this game on stream ever again, it's just not worth the effort. Of course one could easily say 'it's not meant to be binged played', and you're kind of right, it's not when one considers how much time is wasted skipping the matches we're not involved in.

Now of course there were a few oddities , we started using The Rock, and every match he was involved in some how was linked to included Vince or Shane McMahon, resulting in awkward three watch matches also including Road Dogg and then Mankind. We switched to Lita to go for the Women's title, became number one contender and didn't get a title match until No Way Out, losing a ladder match to Ivory because I couldn't remember how to win a ladder match. Then there's of course the long stretch of intergender matches I had to play as Lita, resulting in a match against Shawn Michaels, who let's face it, is more of diva than Sable.

Then there was the Royal Rumble match and the long...really long loading of each new entrant... and it really exposes the rushed mandate of getting SmackDown 2 out in stores so soon after the initial game back in 2000. For everything good about SmackDown 2: Know Your Role, the limitations of the original PlayStation hardware really justifies the idea of just wait for the next console to come along... and considering how SmackDown: Just Bring It turned out as being half the game SmackDown 2 was in terms of features and content that probably would've been for the best.

Now because of all the time dedicates to unlocking all the hidden characters on stream,I was going to feature SmackDown 2: Know Your Role again next week, but because the WWE has blocked the archive version on my YouTube channel because of some of the titan tron footage that the game includes...we're just going to scrap those plans.

For last night's raid we dropped in on Life with Stan who was playing Elden Ring over on twitch.tv/lifewithstan!

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured Defensive Combo #1, Double Combo #1 and Defensive Combo #2.

Did some ocean fishing in Final Fantasy XIV last night, got my level to 41. which means we'll have a couple of fishing quests to do on Thursday's stream.

Managed to track down a copy of WWE 2K15 for the Xbox One... why? Easy achievements... plus the game is out of print, so it was a used copy, might as well get some use out of it right?

I'm not sure I understand why conservative outlets are trying to justify Putin's invasion of the Ukraine... oh wait, yes I do, he controls Trump who they all worship. Fucking idiots.

Ben Simmons is going to try and use the Philadelphia Sports fans as justification for the 76ers to pay him the money he basically forfeited by not fulfilling his contract obligations and faking a mental health issue. He doesn't have one folks, what Simmons has is a lack of mental toughness issue, which is exposed every signle day.

For tonight's stream, Gears of War Ultimate Edition will be featured around 9 PM, but before that we'll fool around with some other things.

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

Thoughts Regarding What Remains Of Edith Finch

Good morning everyone,

Last night's stream opened with What Remains of Edith Finch and we nearly unlocked  every achievement for in during the stream. I thought it was going to be longer than it was, but it was two out play through from start to finish. Still for a short game it certainly told an interesting story of a family that pretty much had a boat load of tragedy happen.

The imagery of some scenes can be rather disturbing, particularly when one involves sticking one's head under a guillotine, and I would assume a good portion of things have to do with mental illness in all sorts of various forms. Believe me, I was in no way prepared for what happened in some of the chapters. It really is a game that would need to be experience. That said there was one bit that I absolutely loved and it was the entire chapter that was purely a copy of John Carpenter's Halloween, right down to the music. That was really well done.

I did go back to complete the last achievement I needed and man having to sit through some of those stories again was not exactly pleasant, but still the What Remains of Edith Finch is 100% completed.  Basically I missed the Fence peephole early in the game... and had to go through every other peephole as well, which meant going through every story up to the start of Lewis's story... and let me say watching what happens to Gregory twice in one night is not something anyone should see.

We also messed around SSX on stream, and boy am I not good at that game at all. Sure it will take practice, but the reaction times needed on some of the 'easier' runs certainly are beyond what I'm capable of recognizing when there are sudden turns. Also remember to do tricks and figuring out how different combination of tricks is certainly something that will take time. But hey we had fun with.

We also featured Paladins last night, and it didn't take me long in during Siege matches to get an idea of just how one-dimensional some people are when playing it. I mean c'mon, my reluctance to even try to carry someone who didn't selected items in the first two rounds still resulted in a win because I was hanging back and playing defensive... then later I broke out the classic Ying hiding near the objective and spamming clones to heal the tank, which went unnoticed by the other team.

What Remains of Edith Finch Achievements

  • All Roads: Take both paths to the house
  • Great Owl: Catch 2 rabbits with only 2 swoops
  • Let Him Finish: Let the drunken sailor finish his song
  • Clear the Table: Clear all balls off the pool table
  • G-R-E-G-O-R-Y: Knock all the letters of Gregory's name into the bathtub
  • Everything Ends: Finish all stories
  • Thanks, Johann!: See Johann's name in the ending credits
  • Loop-de-loop-de-loop: Play Calvin's story again
  • Wildlife Photographer: Take a picture of the rabbit outside Odin Finch National Park
  • A Closer Look: Look in all peepholes and telescopes long enough to hear Edith's commentary

SSX Achievements

  • I Need A Boost: Make your first Mod Purchase
  • Who Needs Boost: Earn a Bronze Medal on a Race Event in Explore without using any boost
  • Pass The Board Wax: Make your first Board Purchase
  • I'm Alive!: Rewind out of Death for the First Time (not achievable in Tutorial)

For the raid we dropped in on Swiftsupafly who was messing around with Bridge Constructor over at twitch.tv/swiftsupafly! It was fun seeing him try and fail to get some bridges made.

Note: Since the A Closer Look achievement was gotten early this morning (like at 1 AM), that means my current Xbox achievement streak is up to 26 days.

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured Triple Cobmo #2, Intermediate Combo #1 and Biceps Shape Focus Combo.

Realized there actually was a game based on the short lived series Ugly Americans, it might be good for a laugh to check it out. I do remember the show to be pretty good and Callie being a stand out character.

For tonight's stream, at the time of this writing I'm not 100% sure what we're going to do, we may go old school or maybe start up something, we'll see.

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

Folks Who Play To Lose

Good afternoon everyone,

Last night's stream of Overwatch was certainly interesting, as some of the early randoms I've played with had some really questionable decision making processes... and then there were the last two matches of the night where folks were intentionally hiding and just doing enough to not get kicked from the matches. It really makes things frustrating. Everyone knows I don't mind losing if the match itself is good, but to lose a match due to clear sabotage is just wrong on so many levels.

That said, we did have fun overall, and of course big thanks to PandaSweet for being apart of many of the more entertaining moments of the night. I picked up one Play of the Game as D.va, and I feel like I had some equally good plays as Moira and Mei when I was playing as them. I know some folks wonder when will I use other characters, but I've have me favorites when I play Overwatch. I know what I can do with them in almost any situation. Of course, I could come up with a Channel Points redeem for folks to pick the character i play, but that could end up with me using some characters I really don't like the mechanics (Hanzo, Doomfist, Genji)

  3.  Aw... damn!

For the raid we dropped in on ShadowNeverSeen who was playing Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, which was an Indie Puzzle Adventure game! They stream over at twitch.tv/shadowneverseen!

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured Difficult Challenge Combo #2, Difficulty Challenge Combo #1 and Difficulty Challenge Combo #3. We unlocked the Hiro's Champion achievement today, and now my next target are the achievement's associated with Evan... first Evan's Contender which requires 30 hours trained, and then Evan's Champion which requires 50 hours. Currently I have 14 hours trained using him going back to before the EX Achievements were available.

Fitness Boxing 2 Rhythm & Exercises EX Achievements

  • Hiro's Champion: Train with Hiro for over 50 hours

Experimented with CAPCOM Arcade Cabinet last night to see if it could be of a similar achievement journey CAPCOM Arcade Stadium was... and while it does have online play (or had, I didn't try that part of it), CAPCOM Arcade Cabinet feels off in terms of movements I would make when playing something like 1943: Battle of Midway. Still, we might take some time to feature it on a Wednesday night as something to mess around with prior to Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.

Also, it does appear many of the achievements associated with the collection are rather buggy or require circumstances so prescience that I straight up refuse to even attempt going for 100% completion. I figure I'll I'll go after the more logical achievements and then move on from there.

CAPCOM Arcade Cabinet Achievements

  • AAA: Set a new record on the High Score table.
  • Art Lover: Unlocked a picture in the Gallery.

Now I know that the EA Sports servers for NBA Jam On Fire Edition still worked, since it was a backwards compatible game, however the trick to get the updated terms in conditions required another game, SSX. So by messing around with that for a bit I was able to get the NBA Jam online multiplayer to work a bit. Now the question comes down who is still player either game online in 2022? Who knows, but it's nice to know the option is there.

SSX Achievements

  • That Was Easy: Unlock all Game Modes
  • Grindage: Grind your first rail (not achievable in Tutorial)

For tonight's stream we're going to play What Remains of Edith Finch, which from what I understand is an Indie Puzzle game, that should at most take about four hours to finish. We shall see!

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden

A Night Of SmackDown 2: Know Your Role

Good afternoon everyone,

Last night's stream certainly was a throw back to the year 2000 with WWF SmackDown 2: Know Your Role. Now I would've just done exhibition matches, but turns out I didn't have a save file for it on any of my memory cards, so that meant going through the season mode to unlock various characters, like Stone Cold, Shawn Michaels, the Mean Street Posse and others, which meant sitting through skipping matches I was not involved in and seeing the many... many cut scenes and the numerous loading screens.

Game play wise, SmackDown 2 is fine, and I was playing it on its hardest difficulty setting (unknowingly) and I was mostly using Shawn Michaels once we unlocked him. There was of course the awkwardness when Chris Benoit appeared, so that had to be glossed over to some degree. It is amazing looking at the roster from mid-2000 to realize who's dead and who's alive at this point, considering the major string of WWE Alumni deaths that occurred from 2005 to 2015, and to some degree marveling over who is still having matches every now and then.

Now we only got through to September of the Season mode, so this gives me an excuse to feature it again next week, probably on Saturday night to get the remaining characters... and probably count the game towards this years tour list, since we're doing an entire season.

  2. The Big Kick For the KO!

For the raid we dropped in on Kalenal as they were playing Final Fantasy XIV over at twitch.tv/kalenal!

As far as my own Final Fantasy XIV adventures go, I went hunting for some Blue Mage spells, grabbing a few fairly easily before I ran into some over whelming odds.

I forgot to get enough clips from last night's stream for the Facebook page's highlight reel... oops!

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured Straight Combo #2, Sway Back Combo and Hip Shape Focus Combo. During the extra bits I was doing I set a new personal best for Block Combo set on No Mercy Difficulty. Following everything, I'm now at 49/50 for the Hiro's Champion achievement, so I should hit it tomorrow.

Okay, why are people being mad that Russell Westbrook is being called 'Westbrick'... the dude has bricked many shots during his NBA Career started back in 2008 with OKC. And it wasn't Skip Bayless who first started calling him that, calling Westbrook 'Westbrick', this goes back to the 2011 Playoffs against Dallas and shot 36%

My Xbox achievement streak continued early this morning with knocking out three achievements, and let me tell ya finding all the roads in LEGO® Valley was more of a pain in the butt than one would have thought... because some roads in the city center overlap!

Forza Horizon 4 Achievements

  • I Live My Life…: Reach Round 10 in the Horizon Drag Racing Series.
  • Ground Force: Get 3 stars at a Danger Sign in a vehicle from the Trucks Car Type.
  • Microscale Explorer: Discover all the roads in LEGO® Valley.

It's the start of a new week which means a video recap of the things we played over the last seven days, which included Overwatch, Light Fairytale, SoulCalibur, Street Fighter Alpha Anthology, Gears 5, Final Fantasy XIV, Persona 5 Royal and WWF SmackDown 2 Know Your Role!

For tonight's stream, well you know what day it is... it's Sunday which means Overwatch!

So we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

Kamoshida Has Been Spiked

Good afternoon everyone,

Let me stress the fact that I'm really glad I set Persona 5 Royal to be exclusive to Friday nights, because man just letting the story breath and go at its pace takes quite a lot of time. Now we did cover quite a bit ground with last night's stream, don't get me wrong, but I really can't pictured playing Persona 5 on like a Monday or Tuesday.

That said, I found the first real boss fight against Kamoshida to be a hell of a brain test to learn about some of the mechanics of being aware of would be the best choice to steal the treasure, not to mention resulting in some big tension moments. Ann sparring Kamoshida's shadow self to make him atone for his misdeeds was quite the character moment for her. That said... Kamoshida's confession was certainly a great scene, but I'm curious as to know how much of the reaction to it in the game was influenced by the culture in Japan, as it certainly was more subdued than I was anticipating.

Other things figured out was more side activities to do to increase Joker's state and keeping the Phantom Thieves with a solid amount of Yen, while growing the connection we have to some of the characters. I did kind of ending up straying from the guide a bit but things seem to proceed at their own pace anyway.I like the idea of the Mementos area for level grinding and finding items, seems like it would be a great way to balance out day-to-day streams when there is no Palace to deal with

On a side note, there were some pop culture reference I found real cute, such as The X-Folders as an in-game reference to the X-Files, Bubbly Hills 90210 (aka Beverly Hills 90210) and Guy McVer (aka MacGyver. Wonder how many more I'll be able to find

Persona 5 Royal Trophies

  • Tokyo Tourist: Went to a hangout spot with someone.
  • Punch That Clock!: Worked a part-time job.
  • Castle of Lust: Seized: Completed the castle Palace.
  • Phantom Thieves: Assemble!: Established your own squad of thieves.
  • Leblanc Buffer: Cleaned up in Leblanc.
  • One Step at a Time: Completed a Mementos request.

  2. What?! WHAT?!
  3. Take Him Down Fully!

For the raid, we dropped in on SheepFuzz who was playing Jackbox Party Packs with their community over on twitch.tv/sheepfuzz!

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured Waist Shape Focus Combo, Block Combo and Hook Combo #1. With the extra bits I was doing, I set a new personal best for Sway Back Combo on No Mercy Difficulty.

Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Exercise Stats 2/26 to 3/5/2022

  • Punches  Thrown: 11,193
  • Estimated Calorie Burn: 4629.24
  • Hiro's Champion Progress: 48 out of 50 hours trained

Extended my current Xbox Achievement streak by once again focusing on things in Forza Horizon 4... and of the seven achievements I accomplished last night, the biggest pain the ass was 'Record Breaker' which was to nail a speed trap at 258 MPH in a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Keeping in mind that car could get to near 267 MPH, so one would assume that would be easy. But the problem is, there is really only one stretch of road in Forza Horizon 4 that can be done, and that's the M68... and there are 'NPC' cars on the road, which means they got in my way... repeatedly, which resulted in constant rewinding and resting on multiple attempts. It took me 30 minutes to accomplish it when I was going for it. The good new is, as of 4:45 AM Eastern, only 1.2% of Xbox players have accomplished that feat, so yay me!

Forza Horizon 4 Achievements

  • Purple Split!: In Rivals, beat a Rival without receiving a "dirty time" penalty.
  • Hatch Me If You Can: Complete the Festival Drag Strip in a Hot Hatch in under 25 seconds.
  • Reaping the Rewards: Complete a race of 3 or more laps at The Goliath in a Forza Edition Car.
  • First-Time Adventurer: Complete your first Team Adventure.
  • Record Breaker: Get 258mph on a Speed Trap in the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.
  • Never Tell Me the Odds: Win a race in the Peel P50.
  • A Race in the Crowd: Complete 3 Blueprint Events created by other players

On a side note, with those seven achievements, I now have a combined gamer score of over 1000, which is roughly the equal to a full standalone game.

People are still complaining about Overwatch 2 not being released yet, but at the same time, don't realize that the development time for a video game takes quite a while. Afterall, OW2 was only announced in November 2019, and let's keep in mind the Covid-19 Pandemic and all of Blizzard's own nonsense certainly caused delays.

Might try to track down physical copies of the WWE games released on the Xbox One prior to WWE 2K20 that can't be found digitally, easy achievement hunting there even if the online part doesn't work. Not too worried about lost DLC

For tonight's stream I'm not sure what we're going to do, but I'll make up my mind at some point!

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

Raids, Leveling and Fishing

Good morning everyone,

The end of another week is here, woo-hoo! Anyway last night's stream was a lot more fun than even I was anticipating, because we were joined for a bit by Kalenal to help with power leveling Blue Mage and to get an understanding of the Ocean Fishing aspect of Final Fantasy XIV! Kalenal, of course, streams over at twitch.tv/kalenal

A big part of the stream last night did focus on the Pandemonium raids, doing all four in a single night, which worked out quite nicely in terms of getting the things I need to get the best possible gear I intend to go after. The raids themselves were mostly okay, thought I did struggle more in the Fourth Circle than I normally do. Thing that did surprise me was the wait times being a lot longer for the First and Second Circle.

Also hit the mark in Final Fantasy XIV that unlocked the Tantalus Attire for having an active account for 150 days. Now I'm not 100% sure, but I believe Tantalus was the main character of Final Fantasy IX, but having not played it I'm not sure, but the attire for FF14 does look similar in design from what I remember.

Apparently there is apparently another Final Fantasy XIV live letter scheduled for today, so I'll check those notes after the stream to give my thoughts on them with tomorrow's blog post!

Big thank you to FnDanteSavage for popping in with the Twitch Prime subscription last night! He is a gentleman and a scholar!

For the raid, we dropped in on DaemonsW0lf who was playing Hunt: Showdown over at twitch.tv/DaemonsW0lf!

Twitch Clip Links

  1.  Oh wonderful....
  2.  When a fate spawns when you're fishing
  3.  A Little Level Boosting

Did some more Forza Horizon 4 off-stream achievement hunting last night, finally found a small stretch of road to get the Noisy Cartographer achievement, and finally did some co-op races as well... I may be terrible, but hell it got me another achievement! I will admit the achievement popped at 529 roads, but there are 531, so I really wonder where those two little strips of pavement are, but I'm not going to go hunting for them.

Forza Horizon 4 Achievements

  • Test your Might: Complete The Trial.
  • The Noisy Cartographer: Drive down every road in Britain.
  • Jolly Cooperation: Complete 5 Horizon Life Co-op Races.

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout lasted 31 minutes with Beginner Combo #2, Straight Combo #1 and Weaving Combo #2. Since I've been doing little extra sets on top of the daily, I think there is an outside chance I can complete the requirements for Hiro's Champion by Monday or Tuesday... keeping in my mind original guess to complete that was to be around the 12th of March.

Look, I liked Samuel L. Jackson's performance in Pulp Fiction, but there was a snowball's chance in hell of winning Best Supporting Oscar for it back in 1995, because I don't think his performance was better than Paul Scofield's performance in Quiz Show, who I believe should have won the Oscar.

Picked up In Darkness On Fire Book One: Flames of Alexandrite by Kate Flemming off of Amazon and it's a pretty good book. Since it's told from a first person perspective, you really get into the head of the main character Alexander in just how conflicted he is about his wants and desires. It's actually a pretty breezy read considering the subject matter.

Also nabbed a few cheap things on the Xbox side of things, Haunted Halloween '86, #SincuaAttack, What Remains of Edith Finch and SSX. The first three games are for potential easily 100% completion purposes, but when it comes to SSX it's to see if I workaround related to the EA terms and conditions for online play related to NBA Jam: On Fire Edition works.

For tonight's stream we'll be continuing Persona 5 Royal, which is our long-term Friday night game!

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

DS9 Reactions: Dax
