An Auspicious Night Of Overwatch

Good afternoon everyone

Last night's stream of Overwatch certainly was surprising with how reluctant some people were to actually try to win, with lots of folks leaving matches. Still we had a number of good moments, and always a big thank you to PandaSweet for being apart of the fun as the goal to unlocking the Auspicious Soldier skin for Solider 76 was accomplished! Looking forward to the chase for Wrecking Ball's Porcelain skin next week.

As far as how the Auspicious Soldier skin looks, I think it looks nice with that shade of a dark blue with the red and gold standing out a bit. Perhaps what is most notable is that since Solider 76's face is completely uncovered, it looks really expressive, which to me is a nice touch.

Should know I finally managed to get the Short Fuse achievement using Ashe, a full 38 months from when the character was released back in November of 2018. Granted I don't use Ashe much, but it was nice to accomplished a 'challenge' of sorts related to how to use the character. Picked up four Plays of the Game last night, two as D.va, one as Junkrat and one as Soldier 76, so in terms of getting the big plays, I feel like I was doing pretty damn well!

Big thanks to LvStrkr for gifting me Control: Ultimate Edition last night during the stream, yet another great game I'm looking forward to featuring!

For the raid, we sent everyone over to PradoxGamerAU who was doing a Dungeons & Dragons campagin over at twitch.tv/pradoxgamerAU!

Overwatch Achievements

  • Short Fuse: Kill an enemy by shooting Ashe's Dynamite from at least 30 meters away in Quick or Competitive Play

  2. Achievement: Short Fuse
  3. I've Got You In My Sights!

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured Hiro as the trainer to begin the grind towards his last related achievement. The session lasted 31 minutes with the following exercises: Double Combo #2, Left-Right Step Combo and Advanced Combo #2 with the estimated calorie burn being about 561 kcal.

Found an old screenshot I posted to Facebook 10 years ago of Star Trek Online... and it is of course of Zagreus, the character I created way back in 2010.

My trust in 2K to do a better job with WWE 2K22 dropped a few points when I saw the character model for Randy Savage is the exact same one used in WWE 2K20. Then I looked at the game play footage that has surfaced and... it looks to be the same convoluted mess that has been the norm going back to WWE 2K13. Seriously, they had three years to make improvements (since 2K20 was released in 2019), and it's clear as day they are rehashing the same game engine.

My off-stream Final Fantasy XIV adventures saw two Main Story Quests being accomplished, 'As the Heavens Burn', 'Outside Help' and 'Going Underground'. The first sees The Scions trying to fight off the Blasphemers, which meant having to play as Alphinaud and Alisaie, which was a bit tough considering the former's new Sage abilities, not to mention the layout of their powers are now where I would put them on the power bar. The second quest sees the Moon Bunnies show up, complete with a zombie like Puddingway, plus exposition on the Ark to evacuate people from the planet in addition to setting up access to the other half of Labyrinthos to explore. The third quests basically allowed for me to explore and get all the Aether Currets around Sharlayan Hamlet and Aporia, as well as see how the Ark's engine efficiency problem will be solved.

For tonight's stream, we'll be playing Life is Strange: Remastered episode 4 and 5 with the goal of finishing the game and getting all of the achievements with it!

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

A Square-Enix Kind of Saturday

Good morning everyone,

Well one could say that last night was a Square-Enix kind of Saturday, as we split the stream between Life is Strange Remasterd and Final Fantasy XIV. Why did we do that? Well because I wanted to make sure FFXIV was included in this week's featured content, plus the pacing of Life is Strange would have meant an awkward split-stream on Monday.

Anyway, Episode 3 of Life is Strange, Chaos Theory, is of course the one episode everyone knows since it features when you gave have Max kiss Chloe, plus the entire pool scene and where Max goes back in time to change history so that Chloe's dad lives... but Chloe ends up being paralyzed. One minor change may result in some positives, but other wise things could get really... really screwy. Since we're going in hard with the Max supporting Chloe route, that did mean basically tearing David down during the breakfast scene.

Of course, there was one thing you would have noticed in that I constantly say most of the stuff that happens to Chloe is her own fault, and that is basically true, because she could have accepted that things happen and to try and cope, but she never does. This fact really gets driven home in Before the Storm, particularly if you try and have Chloe make an effort instead of being the whiny woe-is-me drama queen she actually is. Don't get me wrong, I like the pairing of Max and Chloe... BUT... let's be honest, there's a reason why quite a few people choose Arcadia Bay over her and it is justified.

As far as the Final Fantasy XIV half of the stream goes, we mostly did things related to Wondrous Tails, doing a couple of big raids, trials and other stuff. I briefly thought about doing MSQ related stuff but decided against it mostly because of how much dead air there would have been because of cut scenes (voiced and non-voiced). Did discover I did not have the Extreme versions of Trials unlocked related to Stormblood, the Resistance Weapons Quests that apparently adds another area to explore, which would make for some interesting content once I'm done with Endwalker.

For last night's raid we sent the fun over to GGVexy who was doing a Community Appreciation Stream with giveaways while playing Stardew Valley!  They stream over on twitch.tv/ggvexy

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 Daily Workout Featured a 28 minute workout which showcased Body Hook Combo, Uppercut Combo #2 and Body Uppercut Combo as the exercises. The estimated calorie burn for this set was 450 kcal. I did an addition 20 minutes to finish off the requirements for Janice's Champion, which mean's progress towards King EX Fighter is at 88%. My attention will now shift to the Hiro's Champion achievement, we already have at least 30 hours with Hiro as the trainer.

Fitness Boxing 2 Rhythm & Exercise EX Achievements

  • Janice's Champion: Train With Janice for Over 50 Hours

Now way I figure this week will certainly see the wrap up of a few things, with Life is Strange Remastered finished on Monday's stream with Episode 4 & 5, Gears 5: Hivebusters finished on Wednesday, and then Life is Strange: Before the Storm being featured on Thursday and Saturday with it's 3 episodes plus the bonus Farewell Episode. This will more than likely open the doors for the weekly line up to get back to what it was last year with a more stable lineup of a major feature. We shall see how true that becomes.

Jumped into Battletoads earlier this morning to knock out some achievements, which was nearly every one I could do single player that did not involve finding collectables.

Battletoads Achievements

  • The Dlala Code: Entered the Dlala Code during the credits.
  • Blink and You'll Miss It: Defeated 25 pink eyeballs during 'Time For Plan B'.
  • Mementoads: Took a picture with Axeley's standee.
  • Take This, Axeman!: Used spit to keep Axeley's weapon stuck in the ground.
  • Hey, This is a Rental!: Scored 75 near-misses while riding a rented Turbo bike.
  • Warped Sense of Humor: Hit the fake 'Warp Wall' during Nightmare Rider.
  • Not Just for the Holidays: Landed a streak of 15 hits destroying a totem.

A new week begins, but let's check out my favorite clips from this past week which featured: Overwatch, Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, Paladins, Capcom Arcade Stadium, Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5, Life is Strange Remastered, Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XIV!

For tonight's stream, well you know what day it is... it's Sunday which means Overwatch! We'll be going after the Auspicious Soldier skin for Soldier 76!

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden

Frozen And Pooh... What A Combination

Good afternoon everyone,

Well this is a thing, we got up to a high of 50 degrees this week only for it to drop back to the teens... damn it! Anyway last night's stream of Kingdom Hearts III featured two worlds, 100 Acre Wood and Arendelle, which ties into worlds of Winnie the Pooh and Frozen.

So let's talk about Arendelle first because boy one can just notice how much Disney interfered with it, as it is clear as day that Elsa should have been going through a redemption arc... and the shoe horned in 'Let it Go' and "Do You Want To Build A Snowman' were pretty much lifted from the film in how they were presented, which raises a whole list of issues for the YouTube VOD. The world itself is pretty straight forward, but man, going back to find the Emblems was a chore because of where they were placed. Even with notes telling me where to look, one was found completely by accident and another was only found after realizing there's a way to back track in the Ice Maze portion.

Also, with how Elsa and Anna are presented in Kingdom Hearts III, the shipping of them makes even more sense. Again, this is a clear result of Disney's interference to make sure all the elements from Frozen was depicted as it was in the film. but without any of the proper context. After all, this is Disney, they are not exactly known for having the most subtle of subtexts in their more modern films.

As far as the 100 Acre Wood is concerned, boy does it lay it on thick that Sora is going to be taken out in someone during the game's climax... if I'm reading between the lines correctly. Rather disappointed that all we got for Pooh and the gang is a three variations of a match five of any kind. Yes there are a ton of mini-games in Kingdom Hearts III, but hanging out with Pooh, Piglet, Rabbit and the rest was such a treat in Kingdom Hearts I and II. This isn't nostalgia talking, this is the fact that I played both games in the past two years, so it's fresh in my mind.

Did find all the Lucky Emblems in both worlds, so this just leaves the worlds that tie in to Big Hero 6 and Pirates of the Caribbean as far as the Disney tie-in worlds go.

For the raid, we dropped in on oldish22 who was playing Path of Exile over on twitch.tv/oldish22!

KINGDOM HEARTS III Achievements

  • Bishop: Defeat 3,000 enemies.
  • An Act of True Love: Adventure through Arendelle and complete the story.
  • Home Again: Adventure through the Hundred Acre Wood and complete the story.

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured a 28 minute workout with Beginner Combo #1, Front-Back Step Combo and Hook Combo #2, with the estimated calorie burn of around 452 kcal. We're also up to 49 hours out of 50 for Janice's Champion achievement

Fitness Boxing 2 Rhythm & Exercise Stats For 1/30 to 2/5/22

  • Punches Thrown: 9895
  • Estimated Calorie Burn: 4050.58 kcal

My off-stream adventures in Final Fantasy XIV covered quests from 'A Flower Upon Your Return' up through 'Thou Must Live, Die and Know' and the huge plot revelation that it was Hermes who basically allowed for the original End of Days to happen, and wiped the memories clean of Emet-Selch and Hythlodaeus, while also confirming that Meteion is who we are destined to face for the fate of every living being after she... or rather her kin in a hive-mind discovered that on countless other worlds, they discovered that civilizations destroyed themselves in the end as part of their quest to seek an answer to the question 'What Do You Live For'.

Without getting into metaphysics and every possible headache causing answer to that question, one has to remember the history of Final Fantasy games, and hell, a good portion of Japanese Role Playing Games in general is that when big questions are being asked like that, it's normally akin to the end of the story being 'And Man Moved On From Their Gods...', considering how often God-like beings are depicted as the cause of most of the problems. Hell in the real world, more people have been killed for the sake of a religious deity than for any other reason and one could argue that the only way forward is to put aside that which divides us.

For Tonight's Stream we'll play Episode 3 of Life is Strange Remastered and then we'll play Final Fantasy XIV!

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

The Remastering Of Life Is Strange

 Good morning everyone,

It's Friday, the weekend here so I hope everyone has a good weekend. Last night we started up Life is Strange: Remastered... yes a few days after it was finally released, but I kind of get why it was delayed from its initial September 2021 release date.

One thing I noticed with episodes 1 and 2, which we played last night, is that while the new character models are certainly expressive and look great, there are a few 'framing issues', such as when Max talks to the cop in the diner, his head is half way out of frame, and also issues with sight lines, like when Joyce is talking with Max, it's clear she is not looking at Max at all. Then there is the issue of some attire being a little more transparent than before, this is really noticeable with Kate's clothing..

As far as my choices go, we're made sure to save Kate as well as making Chloe earn the right for this to be a 'Bae Before Bay' version of the story (the train may have gotten to her a few times). Yes Chloe will be saved in the end, but c'mon, letting things go wrong for her is part of the fun. I am using a guide to make sure we get all the collectables in a single play through.

Now how will I place Life is Strange: Remastered episode 3-5 in the line up, well I'm considering either doing all three episodes in one shot for Saturday's stream, or 3 & 4 on Monday, with Episode 5 on Tuesday, sharing time with Final Fantasy XIV. See these are the decisions that comes with being a variety streamer.

Big thank you to LVStrkr for the Tier 1 Resub to my Twitch Channel, their support over 34 months has been awesome!

For the raid we sent folks over to SeaFairyStars who was also playing Life is Strange: Remastered over at twitch.tv/seafairystars!

  3. Up and Down... Kate is a Yo-Yo

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured a 28 minute workout based around Defensive Combo #2, Defensive Combo #1 and Double Combo #1 for an estimated calorie burn of 436 kcal.

The on going Major League Baseball labor dispute is getting silly, as it's clear as day that the Scott Boras controlled unition is going to keep pushing for things that benefit only his clients.

My off-stream Final Fantasy XIV adventures saw more progress in the Main Story, picking up from 'Aether to Aether' and going up through 'Worthy of His Back'. Perhaps the biggest thing here was meeting Venat, who would become Hydaelyn, who is able to instantly tell that we are from the future. The whole truth is reveal, and Emet-Selch takes it about as well as one would expect... does make me wonder if in the end he realized he became what he was told he would become. Still the entire session was mostly lore and exposition with some gradual roaming around.

Of course I would be remiss not to talk about the duel we have to have with Venat... which took me three attempts, even on reducing the difficult after the first failure, it's a tough fight and is clearly design for the player to be a Warrior class to take advantage of all the self-healing abilities, or at the very least a role that is willing to stand toe to toe instead of do battle at a distance.

For tonight's stream we shall be resuming Kingdom Hearts III, and the plan is to tackle the two worlds that tie in with Frozen and Winnie the Pooh! We already seen the intros to both worlds, so it's just going to one doing it and then going to the other, then pulling up the notes to find the lucky emblems. Sounds like a full night.

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

Fast Cars & Hivebusting

Good morning everyone,

Got to love double header Wednesdays, since we've been splitting things in recent weeks between Forza Horzon 4 and Gears 5. Now there was no screenshots during the stream because something went wrong, because I know I was pressing the hot key I have I designated for it. Once I got that sorted out, I had to jump back into both games to make a couple.

We'll start with the Gears 5 stuff first, as Iceman and Striker joined in for the first half of the Hivebusters story expansion, which certainly started off weird, with our characters separated and needing to group up. The characters of Keegan, Mac and Lahni certainly are a contrast to Kait, Del and everyone else I've seen in the Gears of War franchise, but one thing is clear is that nothing is getting done in Hivebusters without team work. While the main campaign clearly had things for Jack to do, Kait and Del were pretty much interchangeable for everything else... in Hivebusters, there were specific tasks for each character to do, so it's a change of pace.

As far as the story goes, it's your usual things go wrong while on a mission plot, but only more condensed, as Hivebusters is serving as an explanation of why the 'Escape' multiplayer mode is done the way it is. Was nice to see Hoffman being involved, and some of the locations are very nicely detailed.

Now, the Forza Horizon portion saw me working towards a couple of achievements, and knocking them out, which of course helps boost the gamer score. It was a 'winter' week within the game, which meant my struggles with icy roads was on full display.

For the raid, we sent the fun over to MommyBee who was playing Persona 5 over on twitch.tv/mommybee

Forza Horizon 4 Achievements

  • Master of Many: Apply 50 Car Masteries.
  • Moonlighting: Reach Round 10 of Street Scene.
  • Go the Distance: Win a race at The Colossus, The Gauntlet, The Titan or The Marathon.
  • Tunnel Vision: Get 100 Near Miss Skills in any S2 Car.

Gears 5 Achievements

  • Designation: Scorpio: Arrived at Sanctum to infiltrate the Heart of the Hive
  • Out of the Frying Pan: Escaped the Swarm-infested Sanctum
  • New Island, New Mission: Arrived on Weilehi
  • The Awakening: Activate Keegan, Lahni and Mac's Abilities in the Hivebuster Campaign Expansion

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured Intermediate Combo #1, Biceps Shape Focus Combo and Triple Combo #2 for 31 minutes and a calorie burn estimated to be 533 kcal. Assuming I just reached the 38 hour mark today, I should hit 50 hours with Janice as the Trainer by Monday.

People are shocked that Shane McMahon's little known prick attitude has caused a lot of problems at the Royal Rumble and he was basically (as rumors goes) dismissed from WWE as it relates to the build to WrestleMania. Thing is, to any who has read Bret Hart's book, or heard any of Raven's details of taking him out partying, Shane has always been a prick.

My off-stream Final Fantasy XIV Adventures continued with Main Story Quests starting from 'Return to the Crystarium' up through 'Their Greatest Contribution', where we end up going to the past to meet Hermes, Hythlodeaus and Emet-Selch long before the events of the Final Days. There is a ton of lore and exposition, but if I'm picking up on details correctly, it seems as though the Final Days was an accident related to Hermes or his creation Meteion. Either way Elpis is a nice calm area, that is divided into two halves, which means one must take the long approach for gaining access to the Aether Currents.

For tonight's stream we're going to start up Life is Strange: Remastered, and will most likely get through episodes one and two easily, which means saving the other episodes probably Monday's stream.

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

A Night Of Classic Capcom Arcade Games

Good morning everyone,

It's a good thing last night's stream had an overall title, because with how I was switching games it would've been a hell of a lot to list in the labels section,

As you can tell, last night was all about the Capcom Arcade Stadium collection and getting the final achievement 'Serious Gamer', which was to have a total play time of 100 hours. I've posted progress updates with this over the past couple of weeks, so do get it done on stream was perfect.

What games in the collection did we feature, Ghosts 'n Goblins, Vulgus, Pirate Ship Higemaru, 1942, COmmando, Section Z, Legendary Wings, Bionic Commando, Forgotten Worlds, Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Strider, Final Fight, 1941: Counter Attack, Mercs, Street Fighter II, Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness, & 19XX: The War Against Destiny. A few games we played fully from start to finish, in particularly Final Fight to see how fast I could beat that on its hardest setting (45 minutes for those wondering)

Funny thing, with my CASPO score being about 108 Million (give or take), at the time of this blog, I do rank in the  top 20 players in the world, which is kind of cool, and a number of my scores and finish times for individual games rank in the top 100. The grind may have been mostly off stream, but it was worth it.

For the raid we sent everyone over to Flint_Locke who was doing a VRChat stream over at twitch.tv/flint_locke!

 Capcom Arcade Stadium Achievements

  • Serious Gamer: Play for at least 100 hours.

Twitch Clip Links

  1. 1942
  2. Final Fight
  3. Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured 34 minute work out which included Difficulty Challenge Combo #2, Difficult Challenge Combo #3 and Difficult Challenge Combo #1, with an estimated calorie burn of 650 kcal.

The Remastered versions of Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm have been released, which means we will be doing another set of streams of the adventures of Max Caufield and Chloe Price here in the month of February. Looking forward to seeing what graphical improvements I can spot. Also discovered that the Remastered collection will not recognize save data from the original versions of the game... which means in Episode 5 of Life is Strange... trying to find all 5 bottles... again...

My off-stream adventures in Final Fantasy XIV saw a big focus on the Rangerd Physical DPS Endwalker Role Quests, which saw me heading back to Doma and seeing that there is some resentment towards Hien and how he handled some situations. It was a nice, if somber side story that had one hell of a boss fight... and my big worry about being under geared for level 90 battles is starting to pop up. Still it was a nice break from the main story, which will see me heading back into the World of the First next time I play.

For tonight's stream we'll be leading off with Forza Horizon 4 and then starting up Gears 5: Hivebusters with Iceman and Striker! Just when you think we're done with Gears of War there is more!

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

Wrapping Up MK Vs DC & The Pain Of Paladins

Good morning everyone,

Well, Sony answered Microsoft's purchase of Activision-Blizzard by buying out Bungie... who made the original Halo and Destiny games. Now with me, this is not much of a counter punch, but hey maybe the Destiny franchise can get back on track... I doubt it considering the nonsense associated with story content in Destiny 2.

Anyway, last night's stream started with Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe with the focus on doing arcade runs of the remaining characters to see their endings... so this included Liu Kang, Raiden, Captain Marvel, Shang Tsung, Catwoman, Sub Zero, Darkseid and Shao Kang. I was surprise that Darksaid and Shao Khan do not have any fatalities. On a side note, outside of Liu Kang and Sub-Zero, probably the easiest character to figure out moves for was Catwoman.

In terms of the endings... the one that I kind of feel would make the most idiotic reason for a big movie cross over since Warner Brothers owns Mortal Kombat and DC Comics, is the use of (The Real) Captain Marvel getting access to the Elder Gods to boost his powers to combat a major threat... and then have Raidan show up for some reason at the end. Not likely to happen but hell it's not like there has been a good Mortal Kombat film since the first one.

We also played Paladins last night for a bit, and as usual I was reminded as to why I stopped playing it so often. The usual nonsense associated with folks not picking on what the team needs and fighting off the objective came to the forefront. I honestly can't believe taking 'two flanks' is still a thing people do in this game, which drives me nuts. Either Two Tanks, Two Damage or Two Supports... never... EVER take two flanks. Anyway, in the matches played I used Ash, Tyra and Ying.

Big thank you to the_tjcalhoun for subscribing to my Twitch channel for the first time with Twitch Prime, Redfoxukcov for resubscribing using Twitch Prime for the 9th straight month and to Sw33ts_Gaming for the Tier 1 sub, continuing their stream at 34 months!

For the raid, there was no raid, we hosted maximilian_dood  who was doing things related to The King of Fighters XV over on twitch.tv/maximilian_dood!

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout featured a 31 minute workout around Hip Shape Focus Combo, Sway Back Combo and Straight Combo #2 with a calorie burn of 473 kcal. I will admit, with the real cold mornings, it's not always easy to load up the Switch to do the daily workout when one wants to stay nice and snug under the blanket.

My Final Fantasy XIV adventures saw major progress in the Main Story Quest, going from Skies Aflame up through At World's End. The dungeon, Vanaspati was mostly without incident... until myself, the other DPS and the Mage all got K.O.ed... thankfully the Tank, who was playing the role of Warrior which has some insane self-healing capabilities was able to solo the final boss. Needless to say they earned commendation without question.

In terms of how The Final Days is being implemented into Final Fantasy XIV, I really get some strong  Grandia II vibes, particular since the final act of that game sees the world being over run with monsters. That said, there were some surprising moments in the cut scenes and the Aether Currents were easy to find except for one which I missed from the far west side of the map.

Before returning to the World of the First, I will be doing the Ranged DPS Role Quests, which seems to take place back in Doma. Should be interesting to see how the event of the MSQ are effecting other parts of the Realm.

For tonight's stream we'll be focused on Capcom Arcade Stadium, as we're at 98 Hours, so 2 hours of in-game time will unlock the final achievement. Though I easily could've done that last night.

So on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

DS9 Reactions: Dax
