Today's Notes 6/30/21; Accidents on the Citadel

Good morning everybody,

Last night's stream of Mass Effect 3: Legendary Edition went way longer than normal because I accidentally started the 'Shore Leave' mission... basically when you travel to Anderson's Apartment for the first time you get locked into it until you deal with Shepard's evil clone. This was disappointing because we didn't yet pick up Tali... but at the very least we'll be able to jump into doing all the party stuff as soon as we get Tali and complete the Horizon mission to make sure we have Miranda there as well.

We also covered the Priority: Citadel mission which means Thane is now dead, and Shepard will be grieving over that... but here's the funny thing, we were able to lock in Shepard's Paramour for ME3 with Traynor shortly there after... so basically Shepard's 'current love interest' dies, and she moved on to the first person interested in their shower aboard the Normandy! What's also funny is that Allers and Vega each had segments in Shepard's quarters after that... and the flirtation was obvious, which means when I say Shepard gets around... she really gets around.

But for those keeping score, in Mass Effect 1, Shepard hooked up with Kaiden, in Mass Effect 2, they break up over how Kaiden doesn't believe Shepard regarding the Collectors and Cerberus, which opens the door for Shepard to hook up with Thane (particularly when they get into deep conversations), in Mass Effect 3, Thane dies, Shepard moves on to Traynor (Or Vega, which is harder to lock in).

Anyway we got a few things done which means achievements were unlocked, so here's the list of what was accomplished!

  1. Veteran: Kill 2,000 enemies in Mass Effect 1, 2 or 3
  2. Mail Slot: ME3: Kill 10 guardians with headshots from the front while their shields are raised
  3. Arbiter: ME3: Win a political stand-off
  4. Paramour III: Establish or rekindle a romantic relationship in all three games in Mass Effect Legendary Edition
  5. Fact Finder: ME3: Discover an enemy's monstrous origin
  6. Combined Arms: ME3: Perform any combination of 50 biotic combos or tech bursts
  7. Last Resort: ME3: Stop an out-of-control scheme before it's too late
  8. Always Prepared: ME3: Obtain two non-customizable suits of armor

And now here is the list of some of my favorite moments from last night.

Twitch Clip: Random Bon Jovi Moment....

Twitch Clip: I don't want to hear how bad Andromeda is when THIS IS STILL A THING!

Twitch Clip: Joker Won't Follow Shepard Into Their Quarters

Twitch Clip: Putting Down The Banshee!

Twitch Clip: EDI's Okay... Really

Finally finished the World of Light mode in Super Smash Bros: Ultimate after starting it last year, wasn't completely able to tackle the battle against Dharkon & Galeem, but at the very least it was done. Really surprised at how inconclusive the ending is as if things were being let go, but considering Masahiro Sakurai has spent a large part of his career as the director of the Smash series, and the endings of each game has had many interpretations involving the state of his well being, I guess the true ending is symbolic of him letting go of the franchise... which is perfect since it was announced the next DLC character to come out later this year (probably around the game  awards in December) will be the last character for Smash Ultimate.

I started up a new season of APBA Baseball, thanks to the fact I still have the 4.0 version of the game from the late 90s and the Data Disks included on that CD-Rom work with the 5.75 version of the game I got this year. So you'll be seeing a lot of box scores of the 1909 Season as I try to finish in first place with the Detroit Tigers.

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 Daily workout went 31 minutes (minus the time for stretching) with an estimated calorie burn of 495 kcal. Struggled a but today with blocking from the southpaw stance, but then again blocking is often problematic, but normally from the orthodox stance!  We are now up to 93 out of 100 for the Laura's Best Friend achievement. Unfortunately my weigh has gone in the opposite direction as I'm up to 255 lbs, up from 250 lbs... and I started seeing that weight gain back in May when I was pushing the longer sessions due to work being slow. Hopefully I'll be able to reverse that trend!

Tonight's stream will be split between Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, as I work on playing ranked matches, then we'll switch to The Division when Iceman is ready to join in!

And on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!

Today's Notes 6/29/21: Always Side With The Krogan

Good morning everybody,

Last night's stream saw a lot done with Mass Effect 3: Legendary Edition, in that we did everything that was pretty much Krogan related. First we went to do the mission where Grunt is leading a search party, and yes I made the joke about Shepard is Grunt's mother, since she (in this instance) raised him upon releasing him from the tank in Mass Effect 2 up through the events of the Suicide Mission against the Collectors. Beyond that, I loved how the remaster made the rachni queen look, it was fucking gorgeous!

After a few little searches for items and trip to the Citadel to turn in some side quests, it was off to Tuchanka, the Krogan Home World, where we did the missions there in the order of rescuing the Primarch's son, dealing with the Turian bomb and then finally curing the genophage. Now I go full renegade with a lot of Shepard's choices, but if there is one thing about the way I play Shepard is that she stands by the Krogan. Hell Shepard gets to know Wrex quite a bit in the original Mass Effect, even more so if you gets Wrex's armor.

That said, I can't really imagine anyone not choosing the genophage cure, there is such closure to the end of Mordin's character, the Krogan end up having a future and you make sure Wrex is there for the Citadel DLC stuff later in the game! That said we're about maybe 1/3 of the way through the game based on my current pace and not including the DLC stuff of Citadel, Omega and Leviathan, which I of course will play. If at some point I'm going to do an insanity play-through I will want everything maxed out.

Anyway, we did get a a few  achievements last night which I'll list next:

  1. Tunnel Rat: ME3: Survive the swarm
  2. Giant Killer: ME3: Defeat a harvester
  3. Pathfinder: ME3: Explore a lost city

And of course here are a few links to some of my favorite clips from last night as well

Twitch Clip: Grunt reunites with his 'mama'

Twitch Clip: BURN BABY! BUURRRRN!!!

Twitch Clip: Waking up next to Aria is always a good thing

Twitch Clip: Running Running Run Run Running!

Twitch Clip: Mordin's Final Moments

Off-stream. Made a little progress within Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's adventure mode, by clearing out the second major area, which leaves just the part of the 'story' where you end up facing both the light and dark entities at the end Would be nice to dedicate stream time to this, but since I'm so start and stop with that mode in Smash, it makes it tough to stream.

Added Kingdom Hearts; Melody of Memory to the collection yesterday, going with the Nintendo Switch version, because.... it was cheaper than the PS4 version! That's a good reason!

Today's Fitness Boxing 2 daily workout went 31 minutes (minus time spent for stretching) with an estimated calorie burn of 494 kcal. The reason I've added stretching back in as of late is just to see how much has changed with my body over the past several months, and while i can't reach back to grab my ankles when doing a thigh stretch, I can easily place my hands on my knees when rotating them to the left and right. We are now up to 91 out of 100 for the Laura's Best Friend achievement.

Tonight we'll be continuing Mass Effect 3: Legendary Edition, we'll tackle a side mission first then head off to do the Priority: Citadel mission which opens up Act II of the game. We'll get started around 6:30 PM Eastern assuming all goes well today!

And on that note we'll see you later over on twitch.tv/fredcasden!
