Just after doing a watch-along of the 1989 film 'Major League' via my discord channel, I saw the news that Regis Philbin passed away at the age of 88. Without question Regis was an icon and staple of television for decades, and his legacy cannot be denied (no matter how hard Kelly Ripa tries). Most of what I've seen of Regis was most from watching the "Live With Regis and Kathie Lee..." back in the 90s during Summer vacations and days off from school.I don't remember any specific segments, but it was something to watch during mid-mornings on weekdays.
Of course some know I'm a wrestling fan, and so I want to really slam the WWE for the fact that they did not induct him into their Hall of Fame as a celebrity, when he had such a big impact. "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee" was a major show the WWE sent their talent to on a regular basis, and he was a big part of WrestleMania VII performing in some backstage skits and also providing commentary during the main event. Regis's ties with pro-wrestling goes back to early in his career when he had Freddie Blassie on as a guest back in the 1960s.
So that mini rant aside, deep condolences to Regis' friends and family.
